This rapid review by the Canadian Agency for Drugs and Technologies in Health (CADTH) reviews recommendations on the treatment in patients (including pregnant women) with opioid dependence from evidence-based guidelines, with a special interest in the recommendations for treatment of opioid dependence in small clinic settings, rural area and remote communities.
The key message of the review is that “evidence-based guidelines indicate that opioid dependent patients should be assessed with the DSM-IV-TR diagnostic criteria.
