Queenie, I’m SO sorry you are going through this! I’m glad you have that printout from Dr. J (I think it’s very unusual to receive a quick reply like that !). You are right to postpone the surgery if need be and to make sure they are going to keep you out of pain and withdrawal. I know from what you have said before that you would rather be on your Sub than on full agonists, but if you gotta do it just do it and try to get back on your normal routine as soon as possible.
Fairrobin you are correct about the dosages needed by Sub patients, but the problem is convincing the doctors/surgeons. At best they say they’re not "comfortable" prescribing those doses, and at worst they accuse the patient of being drug seeking and do what they do with most of us…. prescribe Perc 5/325 which is worthless!
Queenie, I know you have put a lot of time and effort into educating doctors and hospital staff. Is the procedure being done in the hospital? (It sounds like it’s not). I don’t blame you for being nervous when the surgeon says he knows about Sub then gives you Perc 5’s! Is it possible that one of your other surgeons can consult with the oral surgeon? I know you are a strong woman and will make them do the right thing (or else not do it at all!). As always I am thinking of you and praying for you. Please post when you are able and let us know what is happening.
with love,
Lilly
