I know there used to be many people on the forum who were quite displeased that on suboxone they gained a lot of weight. So I thought I’d share something with you all, in case any of you are struggling with a weight issue.
I have been managing to slowly lose nearly 20 pounds over the past 3+ months. And because I’ve been doing it slowly, which is the best way, hopefully it should be more apt to stay off.
Most of you know that I have fibromyalgia. Lately I also have a new back issue – a bad one; the only time it doesn’t hurt is when I’m sitting. Standing, walking, and lying down (as in sleeping -eek!) all hurt terribly. So because of this I’m unable to do much in the way of any good, heavy exercise. So I turned to my doctor. Neither of us wanted to put me on any amphetamines, mostly due to my history of addiction.
Then my doctor told me about Topamax. It’s a prescription medication for migraines, seizures, and mood disorders (like bipolar disorder). It’s also, I learned, not uncommon for it to be prescribed off-label for weight loss.
Well, I’m thrilled to say that it’s working beautifully. No side effects, either. It’s like it’s retraining me to eat less, too. I just don’t get as hungry and when I do eat, I eat much much less than I used to (I stop eating much sooner).
I couldn’t be happier with this weight loss treatment. Again, just wanted to share this info on the off-chance that it could help even one person. I know how hard it can be to struggle with one’s weight.
(Don’t ya just love Mr. Green?)
