Hello,
DocNusum here.
I’m the founder and managing member of PrimeCare PLLC.
This is a newly opened medical practice in the pacific northwest focused on the medication assisted treatment of substance use disorders. This is a Addiction medicine practice staffed by Physicians, Nurse Practitioners and Physician Assistants that applies medical principles and practices in the treatment of Tobbacco, Alcohol, Amphetamines, and Opiate abuse/dependence.
Prior to the recent opening of the above practice, I was one of the co-founders of the Lummi Indian Nation’s Suboxone Clinic and worked there for about 4 yrs. There, we had about 150 patients who were required to attend group therapy for 1 hr per day 5 days a week and were dosed 6 days a week… with a Saturday "take-home." "No group… no medications"… !!!They were also required to provide a U/A-Tox a "minimum" of 1 day/week… but knew that they could be asked to submit a sample anytime they were on the premises.
As for me….
I’m a former Army medic, Chicago Paramedic, Critical Care Nurse who attended the Stanford School of Medicine’s dual Family Nurse Practitioner & Physician Assistant Program. I initially practiced Cardiology, Rheumatology, and Internal Medicine for quite a few yrs. Then got bored with it… so packed up and practiced medicine in Austere environments (warzones-Iraq, Afghanistan then Sudan) for a few yrs. Then upon my return to the US, I attended the University of Nebraska Medical center and completed a Masters degree in Psychiatry-Behavioral Medicine. I’m also a member of ASAM & AAAP. Along with running PrimeCare PLLC, I also work in a Involuntary Inpatient Psych Facility, and also work in a Secure Detox facility.
I am here to learn from and hopefully contribute to the knowledge, wisdom and understanding present on this forum.
Thanks
