Hi Kassy,
Welcome to the forum!
The only experience I have with people switching from methadone to Suboxone is what I have read on this site. Yes, methadone does take longer to leave your body and you do want to make sure that you’re in wd before starting Suboxone due to the risk of Precipitated Withdrawal.
From what I’m reading, you stopped taking methadone Wednesday. That’ll give you Th, Fr, Sa, Su and Mo with no methadone. That sounds right to me, that gives you 5 plus days off of methadone.
Your doctor also said to stop the oxy’s Sunday night. You induct Tues. morning. Again, that sounds about right. Really, the most important thing is to be in wd though. It’s not so much about how much time has passed since your last oxy, it’s more about being in wd. But as far as general time lines go, the ones your doctor laid out sound about right.
OK, if you’re in decent wd when you induct onto Suboxone, you should feel better fairly quickly…..45 minutes to an hour. I have, however, noticed that people going from methadone to Suboxone seem to take a bit longer to stabilze on Suboxone??
As far as your question "is life gonna be fine on sub no craving no more pills", Suboxone doesn’t magically make your life fine and that’s probably not what you meant when you said that, but I wanted to mention that. For me, Suboxone completely eliminated my cravings and for the three years I was on it, I did not use any pain meds at all.
Take care, I hope everything goes great for you.
Feel free to post any other questions or concerns you have, that’s what were here for.
