Surgery Part 2

Got home last night from the hospital where they did the radical neck dissection. Got a huge scar running from my right ear, across and below my throat and up half the left side of my face. The nerve on my right side is stretched so I’m sort of paralyzed on that side. Doc said it could take up to 6-9 months to return to normal if it does at all. No matter, small price to pay to have the cancer out and I can talk just fine. My smile looks demented though!

Had to call Romeo for a sympathetic ear concerning receiving adequate pain meds. My surgeon once again only prescribed 7.5 Hydro once every 4 hours so I was in mild w/d’s almost the whole two days I was there. I did convince him to up it to 10mgs on day 2. When I tried to discuss my Sub and tolerance problem he literally said "I don’t want to discuss it". Of course that pissed me off to no end so I called my good buddy to let off steam.

In truth, most of it was my addiction talking. I really wasn’t feeling that bad and wanted to at least feel the pills. Most just sweating and of course very little sleep for two nights. My regular Sub dr. did say I should be on Morphine but didn’t want to call my surgeon, he just referred me to a pain clinic. Haven’t called them yet.

So now I’m home and can take two instead of one and at least feel some pain relief finally. Could I do with the prescribed one every 4 hours? Yes, but I don’t want to. Once again it’s my addicted brain talking there. I’ll be back on my Sub in awhile and all will be back to normal in no time.

That’s it, I lived, even though I look like Frankenstein.
