Conclusions??Buprenorphine prevents affective and somatic fentanyl withdrawal signs. Moreover, buprenorphine is rewarding in rats previously exposed to fentanyl, but not in opioid-na?ve rats. This pattern of results suggests that buprenorphine may be an effective treatment for the anhedonic-state associated with fentanyl withdrawal, but further study of buprenorphine?s abuse potential is warranted.
